SPOILER! ---------------------------------------------------
The Sculptor is a sorrowful man who lived his entire life in solitude. The only thing that made his miserable existence bearable was a game resembling Animal Crossing. Having spent all his time in this game, The Sculptor ultimately passed away clutching his controller, having neglected food and water.
This event triggered a supernatural phenomenon that trapped his soul inside the game disc, condemning him to eternal loneliness. Over time, this solitude caused The Sculptor to lose his sanity, fearing that everyone would abandon him. This fear led him to petrify every living being he encountered before they could leave him.
As the curse grew stronger over the years, the disc began pulling the souls of anyone who came into contact with it—including you, the player.
By using the items left behind by those who came before you, you progressed toward becoming the next statue. This was the narrative arc of the game. The question posed at the end, "What happened?", is answered by this revelation: you became the next victim of a wretched man whose fear of loneliness drove him to torment those who might have been his companions. You were turned to stone.
